This policy explains how to cancel a paid ShortURL plan and when you can get your money back. It forms part of our Terms of Service. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides customer service for orders and handles refunds; you can also write to us.
1. In Short
- You can cancel at any time. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
- Every paid plan, monthly and yearly: a full refund if you ask within 14 days of the purchase or of a renewal, for any reason.
- Duplicate charges, and payments that failed but were still debited, are always refunded.
- A plan we could not apply to your workspace after you paid is refunded in full.
- Ask through Paddle at paddle.net, or write to support@shorturl.so.
- Paddle refunds the original payment method; the refund usually reaches you within 5 to 10 business days.
2. Cancelling a Paid Plan
You can cancel at any time from the Billing page of the console (console.shorturl.so/billing), or by writing to support@shorturl.so from your account's email address. There is no cancellation fee.
Cancelling stops the automatic renewal. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for; the workspace then moves to the Free plan, or to a plan our team set up for it. Nothing is deleted: your links keep working and keep the visit limits they had, and your click data is kept, as described in section 10 of the Terms.
3. The 14-Day Refund
On every paid plan, whether you pay monthly or yearly, you can ask for a full refund of a payment within 14 days of the purchase or of a renewal, for any reason. For example, if your plan renews on 1 March, you can ask for a full refund of that renewal until 15 March.
When we refund a payment under this section, we cancel that subscription with immediate effect and the plan ends when the refund is issued. If Paddle refunds a payment to you directly, we cancel the subscription as soon as Paddle tells us. The upgrade it gave is undone, as section 6 below and section 10 of the Terms describe. After the 14 days you can still cancel at any time, and you keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
The 14-day refund does not apply to a plan we end because you broke section 4 of our Terms of Service (for example phishing, malware or spam).
4. Duplicate and Failed Charges
If you were charged twice for the same plan and period, for example because two admins of a workspace bought a plan at the same time, or money was debited for a payment that failed, we refund the extra payment in full, whenever you tell us. This refund does not end your plan: when the duplicate is a second subscription, we cancel that one, and the plan you paid for once stays active. Your bank or Paddle often reverses a failed payment automatically; if it has not, write to us.
5. Plan Not Applied or Not Delivered
If you paid for a plan and it is not applied to your workspace, write to support@shorturl.so as described in our Shipping & Delivery Policy. If we cannot apply the plan you paid for, we refund that payment in full, whenever you tell us, whether the plan is monthly or yearly and whatever the 14-day window of section 3 says, and we cancel the subscription so it is not charged again.
6. Changing Plans
- Upgrading takes effect at once, in either billing cycle, and the prorated difference for the rest of the current billing period is charged straight away: you pay only for the part of the period left, at the difference between the two prices. Upgrading raises the visit limits of the workspace's existing links to the new plan's.
- Downgrading takes effect at once. The unused part of your current plan is added to your Paddle credit balance and used toward your future payments; it is not refunded to your card. Links keep the visit limits they had; downgrading lowers nothing.
- Switching between monthly and yearly billing takes effect at once. Moving to yearly billing is charged straight away, less the unused part of the current month. Moving to monthly billing adds the unused part of the current year to your Paddle credit balance, used toward your future payments.
- A refund or chargeback that cancels a plan also undoes its upgrade: links created or raised under it go back to the new plan's visit limit, and active links created under it above the new plan's link limit are switched off, newest first (Terms, section 10).
7. How to Ask for a Refund
Paddle handles refunds for our orders. You can ask in either of two ways:
- Through Paddle: go to paddle.net, find your order with the email address you paid with, and ask for help with it there.
- By writing to us at support@shorturl.so from your account's email address, or from the email address you used at checkout. Tell us the date and amount of the payment, or its Paddle order id. We reply within the time your plan lists (at most 24 hours) and ask Paddle to issue the refund.
Paddle issues the refund to the original payment method, in the currency you paid in. It usually reaches you within 5 to 10 business days of approval; your bank may take longer to show it. Any currency conversion or international transaction fees your bank charged are set by your bank, not by us or Paddle. The charge and the refund appear on your card or bank statement from Paddle (it starts with PADDLE.NET), not from ShortURL.
8. Disputes
If you disagree with a charge or with a refund decision, write to support@shorturl.so first, and we will look at it again. Please contact us or Paddle before raising a dispute or chargeback with your bank; it is usually the quickest way to get your money back. If you are still not satisfied, you can write to our Grievance Officer at grievances@shorturl.so (see Grievance Redressal).
